Executive Committee Changes
Long-time Group
Chair Cathea Stanley has decided to step down. Thanks to Ms. Stanley for
her many years of distinguished service and efforts to successfully
retart and maintain a strong Group in south King County. Ms. Stanley
will continue to serve on the Group's Executive Committee. Dan
Streiffert has been elected to serve as new Group Chair. Mr. Streiffert
is a long-time environmental activist who lives in Kent, hikes, bikes,
and enjoys the outdoors. He hopes to continue and expand Group efforts
in establishing a partnership with local parks and trails, researching
and endorsing political candidates, and coordinating with other local
organizations such as The Friends of Soos Creek and Herons Forever.
Special Fall Outing
On Saturday,
November 12, we will be meeting with the Middle Green River Coalition (http://www.mgrc.org)
to explore the Green River watershed, its beauty, unique wildlife
habitats, and threats to its ecosystems. Coalition experts Lisa Parson
and Greg Wingard will provide a fascinating talk on the history of the
area and attempts to preserve its unique heritage. They also will lead a
hike along the river to view wildlife and native plants. This activity
is open to all ages. Families are welcome. For location and times,
please check our website.
