Brenda was a native of South King County and an alumna of Highline High School. In addition to her day job at Hunter Douglas, Brenda served on our Executive Committee, worked on numerous political campaigns, and spoke at public hearings on behalf of the group.

Brenda was a superstar in the fight against the 3rd runway, testifying like an expert in Olympia and for the Army Corps of Engineers, and supporting CASE events of every kind and place in our fight for the environment. She monitored dozens of public meetings as a Port of Seattle Watchdog and protected species by lobbying for the Black River Heron Colony and the Critical Areas Ordinance. She was always ready and willing to help anybody who asked and make our world a better place.

Brenda’s other passion was animal welfare. She volunteered with Animal Talk Rescue and tended to many feral (wild) cats, getting them spayed or neutered and taking some in to her home. We will miss her conviction, her dedication, her wit, and her friendship.

If you need directions to the memorial service, call Cassandra Buchanan at (253) 740-9864. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Purrfect Pals, the group that is placing Brenda’s cats in new homes. Please email to let them know you are donating to Brenda's cats. If you have room and would like to honor Brenda by adopting some of her cats, contact Purrfect Pals or sallyneary@yahoo.com.
