This is a critical election year. The Bush
Administration has compiled one of the worst environmental records in the
history of the United States. We all must stand up and speak out against these
environmental assaults in our backyard and cross the country. Sierra Club urges
you to take these steps during this important election season:
Exercise your right to
vote!
Make sure to cast your ballot on election day.
Vote for Sierra Club's Endorsed
Candidates
Sierra Club has endorsed many great supporters of the
environment as candidates for public office . For a full list of candidate
endorsements at the local, state, and federal levels please refer to our
Sept-Oct Cascade Crest Newsletter, or begin online with our endorsement
index.
Volunteer with Sierra Club
We're working hard to get environmental candidates
elected and we need your help! We'll be phoning our members to encourage them
to vote, to inform them of our endorsed candidates, and to get involved.

Take Action: Write a
Letter-to-the-Editor
The letters-to-the-editor (LTE) section of the
newspaper is the most widely read part of the paper. It is best to write a
letter in response to a recently-printed article, such at The Seattle Times’
5-part series on “The Environment and the Presidency” or an article on a
recently televised political debate. Be sure to reference the article in your
own letter! Keep it short (250 words or less) and include your full name,
address, home and work phone numbers (for verification purposes only). Use your
own words and make your letter personal—give examples, tell a story, inject
some humor. This increases your chances that your letter will be printed.
