Christine Gregoire, Governor

Washington State
Chris Gregoire has a long record of successfully fighting polluters and working out positive solutions. She negotiated the Tri-Party Agreement to clean up Hanford waste and has diligently fought the Bush administration's efforts to do further damage. She joined with other states to sue the Environmental Protection Agency to ensure they worked to slow global warming and enforce the Clean Air Act. She has dedicated much of her career to fixing our state's water allocation problems, to ensure there's enough water in streams for fish and the communities that depend on them.

Ms. Gregoire pledges to invest in clean energy to help slow global warming, increase jobs and investments in our state, and ensure enough water for fish in our rivers. She recognizes we can promote businesses that don't pollute our air and water. She supports phasing out pollutants that are dangerous to our children and investing in safer alternatives. She pledges to protect our last remaining old growth forests and develop a more stable way to fund our schools instead of clearcutting our state forests.
